Single-Channel Control Units

Design Highlights

  • Compact single-channel control units for turbojet, turboprop, and turboshaft engines
  • All-in-one design: integrated power converter and integrated BLDC motor drivers (for fuel pump and starter-generator)
  • Optimized and customizable form factor: unit shape tailored specifically to fit the engine’s intake duct

Control unit CPSJ v2.1 /A /C

The CPSJ unit is an electronic device designed to control the operation of the TJ100 engine (manufactured by PBS Velká Bíteš a.s.). It also provides stabilized +28 V power supply for the onboard electrical system.

Key Functions of the CPSJ Control Unit:

  • Regulation of turbine speed to the desired value (0 to 60,000 rpm)
  • Control of turbine startup and shutdown
  • Power supply to the onboard electrical network
  • Monitoring and control of turbine operating parameters

The CPSJ unit can be controlled via a CAN 2.0 serial communication interface (Controller Area Network) using the CANaerospace standard Higher Layer Protocol (HLP), or via an analog control signal (0–10 V).

In addition to control, the CAN interface also supports the output of diagnostic data and modification of selected parameters via computer.

E040/M Control System (BEM/BER)

The E040/M control system is designed for managing the TJ40 jet engine (manufactured by PBS Velká Bíteš a.s.) and also provides stabilized power supply for the onboard electrical system. It consists of two electronic modules: BEM, which is installed directly in the engine, and BER, which is mounted separately in the aircraft fuselage.

The E040/M control system provides the following functions:

  • Engine startup and controlled shutdown
  • Regulation of jet engine speed at a defined level
  • Controlled changes in engine speed
  • Power supply to the onboard electrical system
  • Engine diagnostics and self-diagnostics
  • Storage of diagnostic parameters
  • Communication via CAN bus (CANAerospace v1.7)

The E040/M system is designed to be powered by a 3-cell Li-Pol or Li-Fe battery, or a lead-acid accumulator. The system is operated via CAN bus or PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).

We are currently working on upgrading the E040/M control system and merging the BEM and BER modules.

Control units CPSP/CPSS

The CPSP/CPSS unit is an electronic device designed to control the operation of the TP100/TS100 engine (manufactured by PBS Velká Bíteš a.s.) and to provide a stabilized +28 V power supply for the onboard network.

CPSP/CPSS controls the gas generator speed of the TP100/TS100 by adjusting the fuel supply. The fuel is delivered by a fuel pump driven by two electric motors mounted on a common shaft. These motors are powered by the CPSP/CPSS unit and are operated simultaneously to ensure that the output power of both motors is balanced in a 1:1 ratio.

In the event of a failure of one of the pump motors or a fault in the pump driver within CPSP/CPSS, the second electric motor takes over the drive to minimize changes in the TP100/TS100 engine speed.

  • The CPSP/CPSS is operated via a CAN-type serial interface or a control voltage (Uctrl).
  • It features two physically separated CAN buses, used for control, output of diagnostic data, and modification of selected parameters via a computer or higher-level system.
  • CPSP/CPSS supports data logging, including fault records that occur during operation and operational data records.
  • The unit is powered by a nominal voltage of 28 VDC.
  • It connects to the onboard power network through an external disconnector (CPSP-U), which ensures disconnection from the onboard system in the event of abnormal power conditions.
